Transit Master Plan
We Welcome Your Feedback on a 10-year Transit Master Plan in Wasaga Beach.
The Town of Wasaga Beach is currently developing a 10-year Transit Master Plan. As part of the development of this plan, we want to hear directly from the community. We are seeking input from the community to better understand the transportation experiences in Wasaga Beach and learn more about your travel needs and experience with the existing transit services, as well as get your input on future priorities and options for Wasaga Beach Transit. We encourage you to share your thoughts and insights to help shape the future of transit in Wasaga Beach.
Background
The Town of Wasaga Beach is exploring the growth of transit service for the community over the next 10-year period. Aligning with the development of the Town’s Official Plan review and several timely regional and local transit studies in neighbouring municipalities, presents an ideal moment to identify opportunities where operational efficiency and the expansion of services can be leveraged to meet the growing population needs.
Launching as a single vehicle shuttle with flag stops in 2008, Wasaga Beach Transit has since grown significantly to expand its service offerings. Presently, the transit network includes two fixed routes operating 7 days a week connecting to vital transfer hubs located proximal to key points of interest (e.g., Walmart and SuperStore). Additionally, the Town launched an on-demand service in 2023 and is providing specialized transit service (TransitPLUS) with connections to the Town of Collingwood and Township of Clearview.
Year after year, the Town has experienced many changes as one of the fastest growing municipalities in Ontario. The Transit Master Plan will support the evolution of Wasaga Beach Transit over the next 10 years, in order to grow transit that best meets the needs of the community.
Key Outcomes
The key outcomes of the project are to:
- Assess the current transit system and future context for transit service
- Engage with the community and stakeholders on transportation challenges, needs and input on future priorities and direction
- Develop future service options based on community and stakeholder feedback, feasibility and cost
- Develop a plan that provides guidance, support and steps to achieve the proposed option and supporting recommendations
- Produce a final 10-Year Transit Master Plan for the Town of Wasaga Beach
- Evaluate current transfer hubs locations and transfer alignment between routes and other agencies and make recommendations regarding same
Project Lifecycle
The development of the Transit Master Plan is designed over five (5) key tasks. These include:
We Want to Hear from You!
As part of this project, we are hosting two rounds of public engagement throughout the project.
Round 1 of public engagement will introduce the Transit Master Plan project to the public and focus on collecting feedback on the existing transit services and current rider behavior, as well as assess transit needs into the future. Round 2 will focus on sharing information with the public by sharing and collecting feedback on the potential service option as it connects to the Towns strategic priorities and themes from the first round of engagement and collecting general comments.
